Prime Minister Theresa May triggered Article 50 to kickstart the process that will take Britain out of the EU.
And fans of Brexit couldn’t help poking fun at Remainers on Twitter.
Several used the hashtag #BrexitDay, with one posting a doctored image of triumphant Theresa May as Miley Cyrus in the Wrecking Ball video.
Another uploaded a picture of a hand making the V for victory sign, emblazoned with the words “Happy Independence Day, Britain”.
